Jamie Rees is a cornerstone of Garfield High School, known not only for organizing memorable events but also for his unwavering support and engagement in every aspect of Garfield students’ life. Officially both an academic intervention specialist and an activities coordinator, he brings enthusiasm and a supportive spirit to the school each day, consistently showing his commitment to students’ academic and personal growth. Jamie fosters an environment built on trust and openness, making students feel valued and heard.
One of Jamie’s most effective contributions has been setting up the Garfield peer tutoring program, which Garfield Golden Grads helps financially. Through his involvement, he has helped facilitate connections between students, empowering them to tutor and support one another academically. His encouragement and organizational skills have strengthened the program, allowing more students to receive help from peer tutoring. Many students have expressed gratitude for Jamie’s efforts, noting the increased confidence and comfort they feel when taking part in the program.
The lasting relationships Jamie builds with both students and the broader Garfield community set him apart, making him truly special within the school. We are profoundly grateful for the inspiration and support he brings, especially through his leadership with the peer tutoring initiative, which continues to positively shape students’ academic journeys and lives.
